Ramadan is heeere !

It’s the 5th day of Ramadan , the weather here in Lebanon , in the first two days was a living hell ! But on the 3rd day the weather started to be a lot cooler , in the night you can feel the wind , the cool summer breeze , and enjoy the reading of Quran at 5 am , when the night is turning into day in the most amazing feeling ever .

Ramadan , is the fasting month , not only fasting , but the month of everything beautiful , if you walk down the streets just before the maghrib adhan , you’ll see people buying sweets, and kharnoub and can’t wait till (Yedrob el madfa3) 😀

There’s a sense of faith in Ramadan , that you can never feel it any other month of the year, especially in Taraweeh , this amazing bliss we get to feel in this amazing month . We just have to seize every little opportunity to let our faith grow day by day .

Ramadan Kareem to everyone ! : )) Syam Makbool

The Sense Of An Ending Book Review

I loved that book , that 150 pages of life experience ,of how time can affect us , Since the first lines of the book , i couldn’t be more interested in it , in the author’s way of writing it ,  a very smooth way to write such a great novel .

I always have a thing for the final surprises in novels , the way you get surprised at the end in the truths that come up ,
I loved the way Tony talked about time in many parts of the novel , how he judged his youth self , and how he was angry at himself for writing that letter , one and only one  thing i was against in that book , the way he was with the suicide of Adrian, i was against it , and it’s not cleverness to put an end to your life, it’s stupidity .

It’s true that it’s only a 150 pages, but it really is a great novel , and it’s very well written , Loved it!

Here are some quotes that i loved :

“What you end up remembering isn’t always the same as what you have witnessed” P.3

“I certainly believe we all suffer damage, one way or another. How could we not, except in a world of perfect parents, siblings, neighbours, companions? And then there is the question on which so much depends, of how we react to the damage: whether we admit it or repress it,and how this affects our dealings with others. Some admit the damage, and try to mitigate it;some spend their lives trying to help others who are damaged; and there are those whose main concern is to avoid further damage to themselves, at whatever cost. And those are the ones who are ruthless, and the ones to be careful of.” P.44

“It strikes me that this may be one of the differences between youth and age: when we are young, we invent different futures for ourselves; when we are old, we invent different pasts for others.” P.80

“Does character develop over time? In novels, of course it does: otherwise there wouldn’t be much of a story. But in life? I sometimes wonder. Our attitudes and opinions change, we develop new habits and eccentricities; but that’s something different, more like decoration. Perhaps character resembles intelligence, except that character peaks a little later: between twenty and thirty, say. And after that, we’re just stuck with what we’ve got. We’re on our own. If so, that would explain a lot of lives, wouldn’t it? And also – if this isn’t too grand a word – our tragedy.” P.103

“When you’re young – when I was young – you want your emotions to be like the ones you read about in books. You want them to overturn your life, create and define a new reality. Later, I think, you want them to do something milder, something more practical: you want them to support your life as it is and has become. You want them to tell you that things are OK. And is there anything wrong with that?” P.110

Memories , Feelings and Time …

I sat today and started thinking of  the human mind , of our minds , how vulnerable one can be with all those thoughts in the head !

How much memories can be so vivid in our minds that we just don’t pay attention to anything happened before them , memories are strong

, a strong reason that time can stand still , we  have our memories , no one can ever take them away from us , we can rewind them whenever we want , whenever we have the chance to , but here’s the trick

of a troubled mind , a troubled mind only rewind every hurtful memory  , rewind it so many times that they just don’t care about the happy ones ,

happy moments fill our lives but we just don’t pay attention to them as much as the bad ones , we remember the people who hurt us , who cause us pain more than any other living soul

A lot of people contribute in the making of who you are , the way they treat you  the way they share their times with you

They just don’t pay attention that they;re affecting us , we do not pay attention that every moment counts , that every single word we say can or will be stuck in someone’s memory

Memory fascinates me , amazes me , leaves me numb ..

It;s like the photos we take with our cameras , those photos kind of hold on to times we were at our happiest , so that when we are blue we go back to them

Time and memory are our best friends , are our life companions , we can’t easily let them go even when we want to ..

Letting go of a person does not mean necessarily to let their memories go .. And those are the most important things  life can offer us ,

The books we read , the roles we play sometimes , make us who we are !

Yes, roles , we get the opportunity to play roles every single day , to smile to strangers , although maybe we are hurting ..

Or fake a laugh when someone’s joke is so silly , because the feelings of the person telling the joke is so much more important than the real joke .

It’s quite much the same thing as feelings , we cannot actually fake them , we can never fake them , it shows in our eyes , it beats in our hearts .

No matter the pretending , it will always show eventually .

Memories , time , feelings , those three things are the main base in our pyramid called life , Hold on to them , and try to make the best of your time, the best memories with the truest feelings you’ll ever feel !

OOO maaan ..

A couple of days ago , i went back from Oman, I spent there 17 days , to visit my father .
i went around almost all of oman , from al suwaiq to muscat to Ibri , everywhere , we were literally on the road almost all the time ..

I loved muscat a lot , i loved the roads there , the discipline that we miss here in lebanon , but of course everything has its advantages and disadvantages ,
The disatvantages in this city is , because of the super hot weather, you cannot decide to just take  a walk for example , although i could manage to walk by the beach , that day , the weather was great there, not that hot , and i sensed all the people running on the beach , children playing there , everybody was  having a great time , so was i : )

The first thing i searched for in oman , besides a great place to drink a great cup of coffee ,was bookstores , i did a little search , and i googled some bookstores in oman , i found that there’s a bookstore called BORDERS , and before i went back to lebanon , i searched if there exists a bookstore at the airport , and of course there exists ! WHSmith , I enjoyed my stay there, those 17 days were a bless, and i couldnt be happier, that i discovered a new country OOOO maaan !

Here’s the books i bought from there :

And if you’d like to see all the photos , all the moments i captured there in oman please be my guest : )) http://www.flickr.com/photos/61521316@N06/
